We were founded in 1871 and grew around our square. Planned for a courthouse that never came, the square has emerged as Headland’s inviting front yard. Here we honor our heroes, celebrate our history, and gather as a community to enjoy the warmth of small-town living.

Farmers here sow the ground to grow peanuts, cotton, satsumas, pecans, and blueberries. Our agricultural roots run deep in Headland. We cultivate the land that surrounds us and we welcome others to experience life on a farm with a corn maze and hayrides in the field.

We have art in our streets and shops. We are designers who fashion that perfect look for yourself and your home. We craft spirits with a modern twist and sugarcane syrup steeped in seven generations of family. It is here that we sew together a welcoming community.

 

The good life here is a meal served with a smile.

Our restaurants offer the products of our place served in downhome comfort. From gulf seafood to a hearty steak, fresh okra to fried green tomatoes, lemon pie to peanut brittle so sweet that you’ll crave coming back. Food from here nourishes our spirit.

We bring blankets and chairs to picnic on our square. Kids run around on the green grass and families gather to revel in the sounds, smells, and tastes of this place. We walk to the square and sit under the shade of our trees. Our square is the lawn where everyone gathers.
